Those who missed last April’s concert at Good Shepherd, by the Chamber Music Players of the New Jersey State Youth Orchestra (NJSYO), will get another chance on Sunday, November 13. Those in attendance at the April concert unanimously agreed that the beautiful program far exceeded our expectations for an afternoon of enchanting music.
The much-applauded program here last April included pieces for the whole group, both with and without a conductor, and for several different combinations of subgroups. Selections were played by composers such as Handel, Mozart, Vivaldi, and Telemann, as well as several more “pop” pieces. The conductor of the group is Mr. Wayne S. Arndt, an instructor in cello at Georgian Court University, who also played the cello during some of the selections.
The group consists of talented, advanced high school string players. The NJSYO is an orchestra open to young musicians, especially string players, of all abilities by audition in Monmouth County.
Good Shepherd hosted the NJSYO String Camp for the past two summers. The String Camp was especially successful this past summer, having nearly 50 students attend the two-week program.
